It's crazy how a newborn turns your life upside down. We are finally settling down and I'm finally figuring this little girl out. She's so sweet and I can't imagine life without her. She's a month old already! Time sure flies. We are finally able to feed her with a bottle after spending 3 weeks feeding her with a syringe. She wouldn't take a bottle and she wouldn't breastfeed either. It's been a struggle but it's getting better every day. Hopefully at some point she will breastfeed and not need a bottle afterwards but I am starting to lose hope. Good news is last week when she was weighed she was a whole 7lbs5oz!!!
This past week we've been faced with a challenge I would have never seen coming. Donovan has been doing extremely well in school and we keep getting all these different opinions on what we should do about it. He's definitely been blessed with a gift for reading and math (I am not one that likes to talk about it so this is all I am going to say and all you will hear me say). I wish I could see into the future, but for now I will rely on prayers and faith that we will make the right decision. Who would have thought that such a talent could also be such a challenge at the same time?
Today was the first day of Clara's dance recital. She has 3 this weekend. For two of them she is only performing her competition routine and the third will also include her jazz and ballet routines. It makes for a long weekend but my heart just melts every time I see he on that stage. It's something she was born to do. She loves it and she is so good at it. I am extremely proud of her. At the end of her recital, the dance director handed out a few scholarships for dance next year to a few girls. Not many were chosen. After all the scholarships were handed out, she announced a special one she had for two little girls who she wanted to see in a duet next year. Clara and another girl were given the directors choice award which offers them a competition duet for next year. This is such a great honor and it brought tears to my eyes as Clara crossed the stage to get her award. I am SO proud of her!! She has worked so hard and dance has been such an important part of her life. Especially since we moved out here and she left all her friends behind, dance was the one place where she could be herself and not fear the unknown.
Then there is Elliot. What a riot that kid is. He sure keeps me on my toes and he keeps me smiling with all his goofy quirks. What a kid he is. He sure lives Lydia and is always wanting to hold her and hug her. He's always looking out for her. If she is crying he runs to her. If we are heading out, he runs to her carseat and points as if to tell me not to forget her. He may be a challenging kid but he sure is easy to love!
What a great family I have. I feel so blessed!
